Personal and Family
  • Third generation rural Coloradan
    • McDaniel family
  • Married to Vicki for 31 years
  • Four children: Joel, 23; Blaire, 20; Adam, 18; and Noah, 15
  • Moved to Trinidad in 1996 to begin mission work through Youth With A Mission (YWAM)
  • Entire family worked in the former Soviet Union in 1995
  • Gerry was involved in short-term mission work in Central Asia and Southern Africa, 1996-2000.

  • Served as a La Plata County alternate director and inaugural chair for Club 20 water committee
  • Las Animas County Director for Action 22 and inaugural chair for Action 22's water committee
  • Currently serving on the statewide Colorado 64 water principles forum
  • Attended Senator Wayne Allard's 2000 Washington Conference
  • Legal services for YWAM (Youth With A Mission), the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, and numerous other mission agencies and individual missionaries
  • Youth Sunday School and music ministry
  • Leads Bible studies and worship at Trinidad State Nursing Home
  • Hundreds of hours in coaching soccer in AYSO, and boys and girls high school competitive soccer

  • Graduated in 1973 from the University of Colorado, with distinction, earning a degree in Economics
  • Awarded a Juris Doctorate degree in 1978 from the University of Puget Sound (now Seattle University Law School)
  • Practiced over 20 years in water and local government law representing two conservancy districts, numerous ditch companies and a public hospital district
  • Formed three fire districts in Las Animas County in four years coverning approximately 2,000 square miles, and a recreation district in Huerfano County
  • Represented the Huerfano County and the Fisher's Peak Fire Districts
  • Special water counsel to Las Animas County
